Joanna Pearman has been teaching the piano to students of all ages from 4 years up, for over 15 years, as Pitch & Pulse Music School in Ardagh, Co. Longford.

“One of the core parts of playing any instrument is sharing your work with others, and sometimes pianists don’t always get the opportunity to perform and share, making it quite a solitary instrument. As a teacher I have always created performance opportunities for my students with regular recitals and until the Camlin Keys Music Festival, there were very few opportunities locally for pianists to share their work or that provided a concert standard piano.

Founding the Camlin Keys created a space brings pianists into the wider musical community, especially as we expand the programme to include more instruments and broader genres of music.”

This gap in opportunity is reflected by entrants travelling from as far as Cork, Sligo, and Monaghan for the 2024 Camlin Keys Music Festival.

Pitch & Pulse Annual Programme

Piano lessons in Ardagh, Co. Longford.
Speech & Drama develop valuable confidence and interpersonal skills for fun or for Graded exams.
Pitch & Pulse Productions – regular musicals open to all and giving children the opportunity to perform.

“Music is such a fun activity involvement in it should be made available to all children. Through Pitch & Pulse, Ardagh Music Room I try to facilitate a music education and experience for everyone and keep it fun, un-pressured, and non-competitive.

All children love to sing, dance, and act. However, there comes an age where self-consciousness takes over and opportunities to take part in these activities become limited – competitive, structured and constrained – Pitch & Pulse aims to be fun, active and available to all. Try it and see!”
